 Position overview
ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine (CHM) comprises the School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP), the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH) and the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR). These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

The National Therapeutic mRNA Platform (NTRP) located within the JCSMR will significantly elevate the quality and global standing of Australia’s mRNA therapeutics pipeline. It aims to establish a sovereign capability that fosters growth, productivity, and competitiveness in the emerging international mRNA technology sector. Supported by the ANU Shine-Dalgarno Centre for RNA Innovation (SDCRI), which hosts Australia’s largest concentration of globally competitive RNA researchers, the NTRP is uniquely positioned to drive this initiative.

The Technologies Officer (NTRP) will report to the Team Leader (NTRP) and work closely with platform facility leads to develop and implement RNA testing and formulation technologies. They will operate instruments for RNA packaging, delivery, and in vitro testing, including high-throughput screening, while assisting with the ongoing operations of the NTRP, including equipment maintenance and client support for testing and experiments. Responsibilities will include providing advice and training on biochemical assays, optimising robotic workflows for RNA testing, managing platform equipment, inventory and digital data storage, overseeing equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with NTRP requirements and ANU policies.
